New and Refurbished Juniper EX8200 Switches

The EX8200 line of modular Ethernet switches is a family of high-performance, highly available platforms for for use in high-density 10GbE data centers, campus aggregations and core networks.
Supporting future scalability of up to 6.2 Tbps, the Juniper EX8208 is prepared for future 100GbE deployments and has a wire-rate forwarding performance of 960 million packets per second. The EX8216 offers a half-rack design and modular, mid-plane architecture, giving it competitive advantages in scalable connectivity with a reduced physical footprint. The Juniper EX8216 is an ideal solution for customers with an ultra high-density environment. The EX 3200, EX 4200 and EX 8200 series Ethernet switches from Juniper Networks represent a new era in networking. This family of high-performance, carrier-class solutions is designed to address your unique business requirements and create a secure, reliable network that's ideal for today's converged network deployments.
EX-series switches are easy to deploy and manage, allowing you to design more energy-efficient networks, with the flexibility to let you innovate with confidence. Powered by JUNOS software-the field-tested and customer-proven operating system used by Juniper high-performance routers-the EX-series enables you to roll out new features and applications that will actually enhance your business operations without threatening network performance.
Two EX8200 chassis options are available:
-
The EX8208 Ethernet Switch has eight dedicated slots in a 14 rack-unit (RU) chassis, delivering up to 320 Gbps per slot and wire-rate forwarding performance of 960 million packets per second for packets of any size. A passive backplane supports future scalability to 6.2 Tbps, providing a built-in migration path to future 100GbE deployments.
-
The EX8216 Ethernet Switch includes 16 dedicated line-card slots in a 21 RU chassis and features a switch fabric that delivers 1.92 billion packets per second forwarding. It also offers the same built-in migration path as the EX8208 to support 100GbE environments in the future.
Both EX8200 switches use the same line cards, which offer a variety of 10/100/1000BASE-T, 100BASE-FX/1000BASE-X and 10GbE interfaces. Fully configured, a single EX8208 can support 384 GbE or 64 10GbE ports at wire speed, or 320 10GbE ports in shared bandwidth applications, while a fully configured EX8216 can support twice that number, offering one of the industry's highest 10GbE port densities.
Up to three EX8208 switches or two EX8216 switches can fit in a single 42-unit rack, delivering an unprecedented 256 wire-speed or 1,280 shared-bandwidth 10GbE ports per rack.
The EX8200 also supports Juniper's unique Virtual Chassis technology, which enables two interconnected switches to operate as a single, logical device. Deployed as a collapsed aggregation or core layer solution, an EX8200 Virtual Chassis configuration creates a network fabric for interconnecting access switches, routers, and service-layer devices using standards-based Ethernet LAGs.
